How to Get the Most Out of Your Carry-on Backpack

Travelling is one of the best things in my life. You get to see the world, meet new people and have new experiences. Some people travel for a few weeks whereas others work remotely and go around the world whilst living out of their bag. I do the second.

Whichever way, you need to make sure that you have the right backpack. Wheeling suitcases and carrying lots of bags is inconvenient. And you have to keep everything inside safe and organised. This is where the Travel Backpack comes in. It’s a versatile bag that you can use for almost everything. I’ve used mine for several months now and it’s revolutionised the way I travel, which I’m going to share with you in this article.

How to Choose the Perfect Travel Backpack:

You can’t just turn up at the shop one day and choose any bag, especially if you’re planning to go around the world. It’s important to think about what you’re going to use it for and a few other criteria first.

The first one to think about is size.

Do you want to bring lots of things with you or are you minimalistic? Perhaps you work as you travel and need a safe and secure place to keep your laptop. The bag also needs to be large enough to store everything you need whilst still being easy and convenient to carry around. The perfect capacity for me is around 40 litres, which fits all of my clothes and accessories.

The bag also needs to be versatile. You’re going to use it for a range of different things in various different places and environments. If you’re travelling long-term, the travel bag is effectively your life.

Don’t neglect comfort too. You need to have something that’s both comfortable to wear and carry around. Remember that you need to carry this everywhere you go.

Making Sure Your Travel Backpack is Safe:

When you have a bag on your back, it’s quite easy for someone to get their fingers inside. This happens in crowded places when your attention is somewhere else, such as at the bus or train station.

Some bags are safer than others. I’ve found my travel backpack to be very resilient. The compartments allow you to keep valuables deeper inside. Another option is to buy a cheap lock to attach around the zips. My travel backpack even has a whistle. If I find myself in a tricky situation in an unfamiliar place, I can quickly use this to get the attention of other people to come to my aid.

The Takeaway Message:

Any traveller knows how important their backpack is. You need to spend the time to research and find the one that suits you and your style of travelling. My backpack has compartments and a place to keep all my electronics, which makes it easy to organise and find the things I want. This type of backpack is much better than a standard one from the shop and the investment really does pay off in the long run.
